Makeda Stephenson

Makeda Stephenson is a PhD Candidate and NSF GRFP Fellow at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she develops advanced cardiovascular tissue models for studying genetic disease. She believes that science should be accessible and that every child should have the opportunity to become a scientist. Her current service work focuses on supporting marginalized groups of PhD students within the Academy. She loves to sing, is a bit of a foodie and enjoys vegetarian cooking and eating adventures. When she’s not in the lab, she fosters puppies and enjoys outdoor activities like running, hiking and gardening. She’s looking forwards to traveling once we’re allowed to go places again.
